J&K AIDS Control Society Jammu and Kashmir

 

The Jammu & Kashmir AIDS Control Society has been formed under the aegis of Government of Jammu & Kashmir to spread the awareness about the dreaded disease Acquired Immuno Deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and to take care of the affected persons without getting discriminated or being ill-treated by the society in general. Its aim is to popularize the prevention of the disease, promotion of healthy living, to curtail false notions about the disease at large.

The AIDS Project Cell was formed in 1993 and was initially functioning under the Control of Health & Medical Education Deptt. The AIDS Project Cell was re-constituted as the JAMMU & KASHMIR AIDS CONTROL SOCIETY (JKSACS) registered under the Jammu & Kashmir Societies Registration Act, with effect from 14TH December 1998 to tackle the problem of AIDS in a more effective manner.   After its registration in 1998, the AIDS Control Society, started its activities more vigorously in full swing with the guidance and support of its Governing Body, Executive Committee, Steering Committee for ART and Grievance Redressal Committee were constituted by the Government.
